UNICEF
2018
This university project was created for a UNICEF‑themed brief focusing on the experiences of refugee children. The goal was to tell a visual story that reflects both the trauma of displacement and the resilience, hope, and humanity that children carry with them even in the most difficult circumstances.
Design and Storytelling Concept
I developed a narrative using a parallax storytelling style in Adobe After Effects, creating depth and emotional movement throughout the sequence. The story begins with images of children in moments of happiness and normal life. Suddenly, war breaks out — disrupting everything they know. The visuals then transition to life inside a refugee camp, showing the challenges and uncertainty they face.
Despite the hardship, the story ends on a hopeful note: in the final shot, a child holds a flower, symbolizing renewal, strength, and the possibility of a brighter future. The tone is emotional but not hopeless — it reflects the resilience that defines so many refugee children.
To deepen the message, I incorporated quotations about childhood from well‑known philosophers and writers. These lines reinforce the idea that every child deserves safety, beauty, and the chance to grow.
Production Process
The project was created using:
• Adobe Photoshop for preparing and layering the images
• Adobe After Effects for parallax animation, compositing, and visual storytelling
• Original music composition, written and produced by me, to support the emotional arc and enhance the narrative flow
The final piece blends motion design, storytelling, and sound to create a respectful and impactful reflection on the lives of refugee children
